The cute and cozy space, owned and operated by Jane Taylor, offers project ingredients and inspiration for all skill levels and budgets.
Jane has done an amazing job curating a selection of yarns and tools to open the shop with! She's brought in fan-favorite, workhorse yarn companies like Cascade, Berroco, and Brown Sheep but also has smaller, indie dyers like Yarn Hero, Kato Yarn Company, & Keenan Hand Dyed Yarn. There are a lot of other go-to yarns to round things out as well, Madeline Tosh (arriving soon), Malabrigo, Rauma, Lopi, Manos del Uruguay, and Wonderland Yarns to name a few.
In addition to all the beautiful yarns Prairie Road Yarn also offers a great selection of tools, gifts and books for fiber-crafters!
It should surprise no one that my very first purchase at Prairie Road Yarn was a book full of knitting tips & tricks (Patty Lyons' Knitting Bag of Tricks) followed immediately by yarn to knit a hat for my son, Cairo. Jane worked with our local library system for years before opening this yarn shop and has a great eye for quality knitting books so be sure to check her shelves when you stop in the shop or visit her online. The selection she offers covers everything from fun beginner projects to more advanced techniques and patterns written/designed by both popular designers/teachers and newer names alike.
