Knitpicks Summer Yarn Sale - What I Bought!

Hello!

It's Summer Yarn Sale time at Knitpicks & We Crochet! I don't know about you guys, but I've definitely been bitten by the knitted-summer-tops bug this year. The only problem is that my stash of hand-dyed fingering-weight sock yarns has very much let me down. (I never thought this would be possible!) Literally nothing in my stash will work for most of the tops that have jumped to the top of my to-knit list and funds have been a bit tighter with baby around so I'm really trying to spend my crafting funds wisely. So, Knitpicks & We Crochet announced their summer sale at the *perfect* time.

From now until 11:59 pm PT on July 25, 2023 you can get up to 50% off some amazing yarns that are perfect for Summer crafting!

(The links on this page are affiliate links so if you click one of them before you purchase, a portion of the sale will be used to keep YumiYarns.com running smoothly. Thank you for your help & support! ^_^)

SUMMER KNITTING PLANS / WHAT I BOUGHT

I've already placed my Knitpicks order and am super excited that I was able to buy yarn for 2 new Summer tops for just $61.11 (that's including shipping & tax). So I thought it would be fun to share with you what tops I was shopping for and the deals that I ended up snagging.

(Just a tip if you haven't shopped a KP sale before, order as soon as you have your plans solidified because most of the discounted yarns are being discontinued and if you miss your chance you might not get another shot to order that perfect colorway.)

Top # 1: Lemon Spritz Tee by Olive Knits

I really love the simple lace and the little lemon leaf sleeve details in this year's 4-day KaL by Marie Greene of Olive Knits. If you're unfamiliar with her annual 4-day Knit-a-Longs, don't worry, you don't have to knit this project in 4 days. It started as a challenge Marie gave herself one year when she had a long weekend to work on a new sweater design and has become a Summer tradition.

I've joined a few of her KaLs in the past and have really enjoyed the community and fun that they bring. Typically, her KaL sweaters have been more traditional warm-weather sweaters but I love that this year she's designed this cute Summer tee. Initially, I was looking at really bright, saturated colors of yarn for mine but then I found some skeins of Simply Cotton Organic Sport for super cheap in the KP sale and decided that a simple, creamy yarn would be really pretty in this pattern.

For my size I needed to order 7 skeins, but they were only $2.79 each so my total yarn cost for this project was just $19.53 USD!

Top # 2: Summer Blossom Tee by Irene Lin

Irene Lin is a newer to me designer, but I've really fallen in love with her aesthetic and design sense. She makes such cute, romantic but wearable designs and when she released this Summer tee last week I immediately bought the pattern. There are so many lovely details in this design, but those flutter sleeves were what sealed it for me. I'm planning on making the body a bit less oversized for my own top, but those sleeves are keeping all that gorgeous, flowy volume.

I love the colors that Irene used in her sample, but since yellows are difficult to shop for online (they have to be just the right shade), I decided to use a blue/green for my Summer Blossom Tee. Knitpicks has Comfy Fingering in their Summer Yarn Sale right now and it's a nice substitute for the yarn used in the sample. I really wanted to keep my version light and fresh so I decided to get White and Marlin as my colors. I think they'll contrast nicely without looking too heavy.

For my size I needed to order 4 balls of White at $4.04 each and 5 balls of Marlin at $3.14 each, so my total yarn cost for this project was $31.86 USD!

Hopefully this has given you a bit of crafting inspiration for this Summer. I'd love to know what your knitting plans are and what you got at the Summer Yarn sale, comment below or message me on IG or FB.

Happy Crafting! 😘

Shaina ^_^
