Hello!
Today I wanted to let you all know about an amazing movement that I'm slightly late to the party on, but that I wanted to support and share with all of you as well...
The #titsoutcollective movement was created by Countess Ablaze as way to rally indy dyers, designers & makers of all kinds to take a stand against misogyny and copycat producers while also raising funds for charity.
She invited dyers to make their own versions of her original colorway, “If I Wanted Exposure, I’d Get My Tits Out” & release them for sale on July 1, 2018. Most of these colorways are super bright and variegated so I've put together the e-book, "If I Wanted Exposure..." to highlight the beauty in each skein and to keep them out of stash and on your needles. (Let's keep the movement going!) This e-book features 3 of my most popular patterns that work perfectly for these special single skeins.
YumiYarns will donate $5 from each copy sold to Charity Water. This charity was chosen because of their mission and transparency of where the funds are allocated. The e-book is priced at $12.00 and will only be available for purchase through the month of July 2018.
Buy a copy for yourself and/or a friend (or two) and help support a wonderful organization & movement!
Patterns included in the e-book are:
If you have a few extra minutes, please also take a look at the Tits Out Collection Gallery of Makers, I’m sure you’ll find some wonderful skeins to make your projects with (and maybe a few bags and stitch markers as well). Some makers only offered their wares for sale on July 1st, but many of them are taking orders for second and third production batches throughout the month of July.
One of these wonderful dyers is my friend, Liz, from Colorful Eclectic (the amazing dyer behind the Here for the Party colorway that was featured in my Stars in Their Eyes shawl). She's still taking pre-orders for her colorway: If I Want Exposure, I'll Get My Tits Out: Mile High Club. I've got my skein ordered and I'm aniously awaiting it's arrival at my door because it's so super gorgeous! Here's a little bit about Liz's colorway & her charity of choice:
Mile High Club is a part of the #titsoutcollective organized by the fabulous Countess Ablaze. This colorway will only be available through July 2018.
$5 from each skein sold will be donated to Girls Inc of Metro Denver. I selected this organization because their mission gives me hope for our collective future.
"The vision of Girls Incorporated is empowered girls and an equitable society. We believe that girls have the right to be themselves and to resist gender-stereotypes, to express themselves with originality and enthusiasm, to take risks, to strive freely, and to take pride in success, to accept and appreciate their bodies, to have confidence in themselves, to be safe in the world and to be prepared for interesting work and economic independence."
I hope that you take a look at Liz'z shop & that you check out the hashtag on Instagram as well. There have been so many inspiring posts and beautiful things made in support of this movement & the amount of funds that have been raised so far for charities is frankly astonishing. Crafters really are so wonderful and generous, it's just amazing what has been done so far and we still have over half a month to go!
I hope that you'll get involved & that you have a wonderful day of crafting,
Shaina ^_^
