Sidewalk Squiggles Socks

Summer days are meant for fun outside and easy, breezy knitting projects! The Sidewalk Squiggles Socks were inspired by a favorite outdoor activity at our house, doodling on the driveway with sidewalk chalk. They feature simple, squiggly lace from the cuffs to the toes in an easy to memorize stitch pattern for you to relax into.
 

The colors in the Berryhill line from Queen City Yarn remind me of the best shades of sidewalk chalk. The fact that they’re offered in 50g skeins makes them perfect for knitting into a pair for yourself and a pair for your own kiddo! All you need to do is swap the MC & the CC in the second pair and you’ll both be set for warm weather.

This shortie sock pattern includes variations for both toe-up and cuff-down options and uses a contrasting short-row heel along with a standard wedge toe, but feel free to substitute your favorites as needed. This pattern is written for 4 sizes: Baby – Adult Large.

    The needle size listed is the needle size I regularly use, but I am a very loose knitter so you may need to go up 1-2 needle sizes to get a fabric that you like. Most knitters do well with US size 2 (2.75 mm) & if you are a tight or newer knitter you may want to try a US size 3 (3.25 mm). If you know your standard needle size for sock knitting, use that instead of what I have listed (the size that gives you gauge).

    Make sure that your beginning of round marker is different from your other markers so you can tell the difference. Locking markers are recommended .
