Hashtag Cozy Blanket

Graphic, bold and fluffy, the Hashtag Cozy Blanket knits up quickly in a custom-made bulky yarn so you can keep cozy and warm underneath it until the Springtime sunshine melts away the Winter’s frost. The large-scale all-over patterning is created through the mosaic knitting technique which means that only one yarn is being actively used at a time.
The blanket begins with an I-cord cast-on, the i-cord border is continued through the body of the blanket & an I-cord bind-off is used to finish the piece. This gives a nice structure to the finished fabric along with hiding the edge where the colors are carried. Since the edges are attached as the blanket is knit, there is minimal finishing and instructions are given for grafting the final bind off stitches to the top of the border so there is a seamless join along the entire edge.
Notes
- Pattern includes links to relevant tutorials. Tutorials are also posted to the the YumiYarns Tutorials page.
- This pattern uses 2 strands of each color held together throughout so you will either need to use 2 balls of each color at the same time or use 1 strand from the inside and 1 strand from the outside of the same ball. This technique turns your Worsted Weight yarn into a Bulky Weight yarn and opens the opportunity for stash-busting and color-play.
- In the body of the pattern you will always slip with the yarn held to the WS of the fabric. For the i-cord edges on the Right-hand side you will keep the yarn to the back and for the Left-hand side you’ll keep the yarn to the front when slipping the stitches.
- If you are a tight knitter and notice your i-cord edges pulling up weirdly, you may want to add a third wrap to your elongated stitches to try and loosen them up even more. Play around with how many wraps you use so that you get an edging that you love and that looks nice with your fabric.
