Andromeda's Wings Shawl

Andromeda's Wings Shawl

“Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and the gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.” – Fry

Unlike space, this galaxy-themed shawl does not go on forever. In fact, it zips right off your needles (and there are no gorillas involved)! It was born from a challenge to myself to see if I could take a pattern-in-the-round that is normally reserved for the tops of berets and convert it to a wearable shawl. The resulting pattern, combined with the highly variegated and super bright Margaritaville from the Three Irish Girls creates this beautiful, swirling cosmic shawl.

Andromeda’s Wings has a unique construction that starts in the center on 4 DPNs and grows outward. The patterning spirals around until you split the stitches in half to work each wing separately with different rates of increase. (Yes, you read that correctly.) The shifts in size are very organic which makes for a really interesting, but also relaxing knit as you create your own wearable cosmos.

This purchase is for the original, single-skien version of the shawl pattern only. If you would like both this and the larger faded version of the pattern, add a note in the comments at checkout & I'll send the pattern for the faded version to you as well.
