Twisted Stitches, Faux Cables, Honeycombs, Hexagons... All different terms for one of my favorite knitting techniques!
This tutorial covers Right Twists & Left Twists. The Right Twist is pretty basic, but the Left Twist requires some slight knitting gymnastics. Nothing terribly tricky, but it's different from how most Left Twists are made. The reason that I make mine this way is because the stitches pop from the fabric more so you get better definition to your twists.

RIGHT LEANING TWIST (RT):
Step 1. Knit the second stitch on your left needle, do not remove stitches from the Left Needle.
Step 2. Knit the first stitch on your left needle.
Step 3. Remove the 2 worked stitches from the Left Needle.
Repeat steps 1-3 for each Right Twist (RT).
LEFT LEANING TWIST (LT):
Step 1. Keeping the first stitch in front of your right needle, knit the second stitch on your left needle, do not remove stitches from the Left Needle.
Step 2. Knit the first stitch on your left needle as usual.
Step 3. Remove the 2 worked stitches from the Left Needle.
Repeat steps 1-3 for each Left Twist (LT).
Try It Out!
It's best to put a new technique into practice right away so that you can remember it in the future. Here are some of my patterns that use twisted stitches.
